A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.
A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.
These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been released.
Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.
The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
